Today’s Coastal Conditions – Purbeck & Dorset Coast

Latest live conditions for paddleboarders, swimmers, and coastal visitors, based on real-time webcam observation and local coastal data:

  • Paddleboarding – Swanage: Near-glassy conditions inside the bay with exceptionally little visible surface movement. The webcam shows a calm sea and very light wind early this morning. Excellent conditions for beginners, families and first-time paddleboarders.
  • Paddleboarding – Studland, Lulworth Cove & Durdle Door: Sheltered locations should enjoy similarly calm conditions through the morning. Very favourable for recreational paddling and coastal exploration.
  • Paddleboarding – Kimmeridge Bay: More exposed than Swanage but currently experiencing light conditions. Good for experienced paddlers, though always assess local conditions before launching.
  • Swimming – Swanage: Calm water with virtually no shore break visible. Excellent swimming conditions for most beach users.
  • Surf – Swanage: Flat (<1 ft). No meaningful surf.
  • Surf – Kimmeridge: Small background movement only. Weak and inconsistent.
  • Surf – Bournemouth & Boscombe: Minimal low-energy swell. Limited surf quality expected.

Summary:
The live webcam shows one of the calmest starts to the day seen recently across Swanage Bay. The sea is almost flat with excellent visibility and very little wind influence. Combined with warm summer temperatures and long daylight hours, conditions are highly favourable for paddleboarding, kayaking and swimming within the shelter of the bay.

Sunday: Calm seas, light winds and warm temperatures. Excellent conditions for paddleboarding, kayaking and swimming.

Monday: Generally settled conditions continue, although local sea breezes may strengthen slightly during the afternoon. Morning sessions are likely to offer the calmest water.
